Trade volume between Russia and Afghanistan grows more than two times

Bilateral trade volume between Russia and Afghanistan grew 2.2 times in the first quarter of the year compared with the same period of the last year and reached $92.1 million. In an interview with Afghanistan.Ru a member of the Russian-Afghan Business Council, Valeri Ivanov stated this. “According to reports by Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Commerce of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, mutual trade volume grew by 2.2 times,” Valeri Ivanov noted.
Valery Ivanov said that bilateral trade volume in the first quarter of last year had been $41.37 million.
Afghan exports to Russia in the first quarter of this year were $5.6 million, while Russian exports to Afghanistan were $86.3 million.
According to V. Ivanov, if this rate of purchasing goods were preserved bilateral trade volume might exceed for the first time $100 million mark in the post-Taliban period.
