Russia, China and India call on the creation of a security belt around Afghanistan to stop the spread of heroin. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov made this statement after a joint meeting of the foreign ministers from the three countries in Yekaterinburg on the 15th of May.
“We discussed the situation around Afghanistan, where the drug threat emanates mainly and also the terrorist threat. We support efforts by the international community to stabilize the situation in Afghanistan and believe that it will be useful to take additional efforts and create a security belt to halt the spread of drugs,” Sergei Lavrov said.
According to the opinion of the first deputy chairman of the security committee of the Lower House of Russian parliament, Mikhail Grishankov, it will be a difficult task to create a security belt around Afghanistan to stop the spread of drugs.
