V. Putin: It is impossible to resolve the Afghan issue without Russia’s involvement

Russian President Vladimir Putin believes that NATO cannot solve the Afghan issue without Russia’s involvement. He made the statement speaking at a news conference after the Russia-NATO Council meeting in Bucharest on the 5th of April, says Afghanistan.Ru correspondent from Romania.

“Afghanistan is the most acute issue before the NATO”, said Vladimir Putin. The Russian leader confirmed the agreement reached between Moscow and the alliance on the transit of non-military goods through the territory of the Russian Federation to Afghanistan. According to Vladimir Putin, Russia and NATO could made significant progress in political cooperation.

President Putin reminded about assistance given by the Russian Federation to the forces of the Northern Alliance during the years when it put up resistance to the Taliban movement.
