MOSCOW, 5th November. Russian Ministry of Defense is concerned about Islamic State recent activities in northern Afghan provinces near Turkmenistan and Tajikistan borders, Vice-minister Anatoly Antonov claimed.
Such statement was made during his speech at 3rd meeting of Defense Ministers of ASEAN countries and their partners, as Gazeta.ru mentions.
Islamic State presence was observed in 25 out of 34 Afghan provinces. We are concerned of insurgents concentration near Turkmenistan and Tajikistan borders, Russian minister emphasized.
To recall, Russia fights with the Islamic State group in Syria and prepares to help Afghanistan with its army supply against insurgents. Anatoly Antonov already expressed his concerns about IS possible expansion to China and CIS countries two weeks ago.
