On Saturday, Afghan President Hamid Karzai phoned his Turkmen counterpart Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov and congratulated him on his victory and re-election.
The Afghan Leader wished him health and success in undertaken tasks and expressed gratitude for promoting neighbourly relations and helping actively to bring peace to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan as well as taking measures to increase power supply to the country.
Notably, Last week, the Lower House of Afghan parliament, Wolesi Jirga adopted an Afghan-Turkmen agreement on cooperation in economic and cultural areas, including such sectors as power supply, transport, trade, agriculture and services as well as on providing assistance by Turkmenistan to develop the social and economic infrastructure in Afghanistan.
During the telephone conversation, the two Presidents discussed prospects for promoting cooperation between the two countries and exchanged invitations to visit Afghanistan and Turkmenistan.
