In Ashkhabad, an Afghan delegation has held talks on bilateral cooperation with officials from several Turkmen government departments.
According to the press service of the Turkmen government, the two sides discussed strengthening stability, economic development of Afghanistan and promoting cooperation in the region in transport, agriculture and power generation areas at the final round of talks.
The two sides spoke highly of the significance of several projects launched by Turkmenistan, including the construction of the TAPI gas pipeline, Atamurat-Yamamnazar-Akina-Andkhoy railroad, and the Mary-Atamurat-Andkhoy power supply line. The construction of the power line will pave the way for increasing the electricity export by five times and meeting the power demands in the neighbouring country up to 70 percent, says the Turkmen government’s press service.
A framework agreement on the gas pipeline was signed at the summit of the member countries of the TAPI project in Ashkhabad on the 11th of December 2010. The pipeline will start supplying gas in 2016.
