Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the IRA in Russia, Zalmai Aziz has ended his mission in the Russian Federation. He stated this at a reception for compatriots held at the Afghan embassy in Moscow.
The guests spoke highly of the contribution made by Zalmai Aziz to strengthening ties between the people of the two countries, Afghanistan and Russia. They also welcomed the contribution made by the diplomat to optimize the work of several departments of the embassy and improve the country’s image in the Russian society.
The new Afghan ambassador to Russia has not been appointed yet.
Zalmai Aziz was appointed as the ambassador to Moscow in the middle of 2007. He was born in Kabul 1940. He graduated from Kabul University and specialized in international relations. He was the second secretary at the Afghan embassy in Warsaw in the 70s and worked at the Afghan mission of the United Nations in the 80s. He was the Deputy Foreign Minister of the IRA from 2001 to the middle of 2006.
