Members of the commissions on the national economy, finance, budget and the commissions handling defence and national security issues of the “Mishrano Jirga” have held talks with a delegation of the Senate of the Russian Federation. They focused on cooperation in economics and fighting drug trafficking. An official of the staff of the Upper House of the National Assembly of Afghanistan told the “Afghanistan.Ru” information portal that the first deputy speaker of the “Mishrano Jirga”, Fazel Hadi Muslimyar, attended the meeting.
The chairman of the commission handing defence and national security issues, hajji Shir Mohammad Ahundzada, and deputy head of the commission for the national economy, Mavlavi Abdul Vahab, praised highly the Russian government’s assistance to Afghanistan and supported promoting cooperation with the Russian Federation. He described Russia’s role in fighting drug trafficking as important and insisted on strengthening inter-parliamentary ties between the two countries.
The delegation of the Council of Federation of Russia also held talks with the international relations commission of the “Maishrano Jirga”.
The Russian delegation that arrived in Kabul early this week include the first deputy chairman of the commission on rules of procedure and the organization of parliamentary activity, Oleg Panteleev, the head of the group in charge of cooperation with the Afghan parliament, Rudik Iskuzhin and the secretary of the group, Kim Koshev.
