On the 25th of January, regional consultations on Afghanistan under the aegis of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization were held in Moscow. According to the Russian Foreign Ministry’s official website, the Deputy Afghan Foreign Minister Mohammad Kabir Farahi, officials from India, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and the SCO Secretariat took part in the consultations.
The regional consultations were held in Moscow two days before the International Conference on Afghanistan in London.
Earlier, Mohammad Kabir Farahi and his Russian counterpart Alexei Borodavkin discussed the forthcoming London Conference. They discussed the Afghan issue in detail in the context of the forthcoming London Conference on Afghanistan. They emphasized the importance of strengthening the role of Afghans in ruling the country and the handing over of the responsibility for the stabilization of the situation to them from the foreign forces as the Afghan armed forces achieve fighting efficiency.
