Russia together with other countries should do its best to bring the situation in Afghanistan to normal. This was stated by the chairman of Russian-Afghan business council, Abubakar Arsamakov in an interview with the today’s issue of Moscow-based daily Rossiskaya Gazeta.
According to Abubakar Arsamakov, the grave situation in Afghanistan now could affect the developments in Russia’s southern regions. “This will affect the southern regions of our country. Together with other countries we should take all necessary steps to normalize the situation there,” chairman of the Russian-Afghan business council said.
The Russian companies with the assistance of the business council supply Afghanistan with flour, timber, sunflower oil and other products. They plan to export building technology to Afghanistan. “We hope for commissioning a cement factory in Afghanistan and a hydropower station on the River Salang,” Arsamakov said.
He also expressed hope that Afghan-Russian business council will be founded in Afghanistan to promote mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation.
The Russian-Afghan business council was founded in 2007 under Russia’s Trade and Industrial Chamber to stimulate trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. Among the members of the council are a large number of Russian enterprises and public and state organizations.
