On the eve, Afghan Foreign Minister Rangin Zamir Spanta met with the Russian ambassador to Afghanistan in Kabul.
The Afghan minister had praised the work of Zamir Kabulov during his mission in Afghanistan. The minister also expressed hope that with the arrival of a new ambassador, relations between the two countries would be upgraded.
The Russian diplomat, on his part, assured the minister that Moscow would resume the policy of supporting Afghanistan in fighting terrorism.
Zamir Kabulov was appointed as the ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Afghanistan in 2004.
