CSTO Secretary General and French ambassador to Russia discuss the situation in Afghanistan

On the 5th of Marta, Secretary General of the Collective Security Organization, CSTO Nikolai Bordyusha and French Ambassador to the Russian Federation Jean de Gliniasti discussed the situation in Afghanistan at their meeting at the CSTO secretariat.

A spokesman to CSTO told Afghanistan.Ru portal that the two sides focused on cooperation between CSTO and the European Union and CSTO and Shanghai Cooperation Organization and transit non-military cargo to coalition forces in Afghanistan through the territories of CSTO member countries.

At the request of the French ambassador Nikolai Bordyusha briefed about the setting up of the collective rapid reaction force of the organization and anti-drug operation code-named “Kanal” that has been carried under the CSTO flag in the past 6 years. He emphasized that besides the CSTO member countries over 20 countries are involved in the operation. Among these are China, India, Pakistan, Poland, the US and the Baltic States.
