Russia is ready to support efforts by Kabul in the UN Security Council

The Russian Federation is ready at the UN Security Council level to help so that the international community continues to assist Afghanistan, says an official statement posted by the Russian Foreign Ministry on its web site.
“Russia is determined to carry out further multidimensional work for the sake of achieving a lasting Afghan settlement. As a permanent member of the UN Security Council it will do its best so that support to Afghanistan by the international community remained firm and long-lived,” the Russian Foreign Ministry statement said.
Russian Foreign Ministry reminds about the UN Security Council official statement adopted on the 11th of July that welcomes the outcome of the International Conference in Support of Afghanistan held in Paris on the 12th of June. “The Security Council welcomes the outcome of the Conference, including the generous financial pledges made in support of the Afghanistan National Development Strategy and emphasizes the strengthened role of the United Nations Assistance Mission in holding free, fair and secure elections in 2009 and 2010,” the Russian Foreign Ministry statement says.
